3-pin microswitch typically has three terminals:

Common (COM) — the moving contact inside the switch.
Normally Open (NO) — the circuit is open (off) when the switch is at rest.
Normally Closed (NC) — the circuit is closed (on) when the switch is at rest.

When an external force (like a push, press, or mechanical limit) actuates the lever or button on the microswitch, the internal mechanism rapidly “snaps” the contact from one terminal to the other — switching the circuit from NC to NO or vice versa.
